Meinl HE-102 Aluminium Darbuka

The darbuka is one of the most popular percussion instruments from the Middle East, and it originates from northern Africa. The name darbuka likely comes from the Arabian word 'darba', which roughly means 'to hit', so it can pretty much serve as a built-in user manual. Despite the fact that the darbuka looks quite a bit like the West-African djembe, and also belongs to the goblet drum family, this instrument sounds very different from a djembe, and it's made from entirely different materials. It's more closely related to the doumbek drum, which also originated in the north of Africa.
